Hello all!

If you're planning on taking our Ballet class for ages 10 and up, it's important that you know how to style your hair into a nice and secure ballet bun that will look great and stay in place during class. The ballet bun is integral to looking and feeling like a true ballet dancer, and by practicing your bun every week, you'll have perfected a clean, professional bun come performance time!

Not sure how to style a classic ballet bun? Below is a fantastic tutorial by Abby and Jana from Ballerinas by Night. It explains in wonderful detail how to style a bun for thicker hair (in the beginning) and how to style it for thin to normal hair (begins near the 6:45 mark).

You will need:

  • A hair tie

  • A hairbrush (preferably a wide paddle brush)

  • A fine tooth comb

  • Several bobby pins (large and small size)

  • A hairnet

  • Regular sized hair clips/barrettes
